Faculty / Department Admissions Policy

To put our educational philosophy into practice, our university accepts students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster individuals who have high ethical standards and engage in work from a standpoint of the people of the world. Therefore, we accept students who can communicate with consideration and cooperativeness.
  2. We foster professionals who can respond to technical advancements in various fields of “lives and living.” Therefore, we accept students who have basic academic skills required for acquisition of expertise and problem-finding/solving capabilities as well as a willingness to acquire those skills.
  3. We foster individuals who keep working toward new expertise in their fields. Therefore, we accept students with tenacity and vitality.

Faculty of Engineering

To develop individuals who support “lives and living” by means of civil engineering and general-purpose science technology, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster engineers and researchers with a good balance of rich humanity based on a high sense of ethics and genuine engineering quality. Therefore, we accept students who can engage in communication with moral fiber and cooperativeness.
  2. We foster individuals with practical problem-solving capabilities who can respond to diverse and advanced demands of contemporary society from an engineering point of view. Therefore, we accept students who have the basic academic skills required for acquisition of a wide range of expertise and skills as well as creativity.
  3. We implement our original education innovation program (SEIP: Sojo Educational Innovation Project) to foster excellent individuals in engineering capable of making international and regional contributions. Therefore, we accept students who can make efforts toward acquisition of new knowledge and specialized education with tenacity and a willingness to learn.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

To develop individuals who support “lives and living” by leveraging their expertise in mechanical engineering, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. Those who make efforts to become mechanical engineers equipped with an engineering sense and an ethical sense as engineers in the future. Those who have a strong interest in manufacturing and mechanical engineering as well as being equipped with the basic academic skills required for learning. In particular, enrolled students should preferably be equipped with basic knowledge in fields such as mathematics and physics.
  2. Those who have an intellectually inquiring mind, can think and act by themselves, and actively confront even hard-to-solve issues. Those who make efforts to become practical engineers who can solve issues from an engineering viewpoint in the future.
  3. Those who are concerned about co-existing with nature and have enthusiasm for making contributions to the general happiness and safety of humanity. Those who make efforts to become mechanical engineers who can succeed in a global society in the future.

Department of Nanoscience

To develop individuals who support “lives and living” by leveraging the techniques and knowledge in science, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. Those who have the capability to solve issues by themselves in fields of “new materials,” “environment,” and “biotechnology” based on a scientific way of thinking and have a strong will to become independent researchers and engineers in the future. For this purpose, enrolled students should preferably be equipped with a strong mathematical/scientific orientation, in particular, basic academic skills in mathematics, chemistry, biology, and physics, or have a strong enthusiasm to complement their shortcomings in those subjects once they are enrolled.
  2. Those who, once enrolled, make efforts to acquire a wide range of culture and expertise as well as ethics appropriate for researchers and engineers and have a willingness to contribute to society.
  3. We foster individuals who can be active internationally. Therefore, we accept students who are making an effort to try to learn and communicate in English.

Department of Architecture

To develop individuals who support “lives and living” by leveraging expertise in architecture, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster individuals who can fully exercise their abilities in the architecture field by becoming deeply involved with individuals, cities, or regional areas, and can communicate their own ideas effectively. Therefore, we accept students who have acquired the basic academic skills required to acquire architectural techniques by the time of senior high school and are equipped with a proactive learning approach.
  2. Through architecture, we foster individuals who can think about things from a global or regional point of view. Therefore, we accept students who are deeply interested in the creation of architecture, design of architectural space, environment, and safety and have a willingness to make contributions to society.
  3. Architecture involves sociality and work done on the basis of cooperation. Therefore, we accept students who are equipped with an ethical sense and the capability to cooperate and communicate when engaged in architecture.

Department of Aerospace Systems Engineering

To develop individuals who support the aerospace field and a wide range of related fields, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster individuals who are equipped with a high sense of ethics and an international community capability and can understand different cultures so that they can be active in the aerospace field, which is being internationalized. Therefore, we accept individuals with consideration and cooperativeness.
  2. The origin of the modern field of aerospace was a pure yearning for flight, the excitement brought about by flying, and the joy of reaching up into the skies. Therefore, we accept individuals who are excited by aerospace and the universe.
  3. In the Department of Aerospace Systems Engineering, comprehensive engineering education based on the principle of “focus on basics and emphasis on practice” is given. Therefore, enrolled students should preferably be equipped with the basic knowledge necessary for acquiring a wide range of knowledge and skills as well as development of imagination by the time of graduation from senior high school. We also accept students who are willing to acquire that knowledge and skill set.

Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences

To put our education philosophy into practice, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster engineers with a high sense of ethics and rich humanity as human resources capable of responding to society’s demands. Therefore, we accept students who are equipped with information collection/analysis capabilities, communication capabilities and cooperativeness, and are capable of thinking on their own and acting independently.
  2. We foster “engineers with practical capabilities and creativeness” who are equipped with problem-solving capabilities in the fields of electrics, electronics, communications, and information technology. Therefore, we accept students who are enthusiastic in the acquisition of expertise in the above fields and equipped with the basic academic skills necessary for such acquisition.
  3. We aim at fostering individuals capable of making contributions to international society or regional societies from the viewpoint of “lives and living.” Therefore, we accept students who are equipped with a willingness to learn a new expertise and a spirit of overcoming hardships.

Department of Computer and Information Sciences

To put the education philosophy of this university into practice, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster engineers with a high sense of ethics and rich humanity as human resources capable of responding to society’s demands. Therefore, we accept students who are equipped with information collection/analysis capabilities, communication capabilities and cooperativeness, and are capable of thinking on their own and acting independently.
  2. Faculty of Biotechnology and Life Sciences
Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences

To foster individuals who can make contributions to “lives and living,” we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster engineers and researchers in the biotechnology and life science fields who have a high sense of ethics and rich humanity. Therefore, we accept students who have independence, cooperativeness, a flexible way of thinking, and a warm humanity.
  2. We foster engineers and researchers who have problem-solving capabilities and expertise in the fields of biotechnology and life science. Therefore, we accept students who have the basic academic skills required for acquisition of expertise and skills that serve as the basis for becoming such engineers and researchers.
  3. We accept students who can proactively make efforts in the fields of biotechnology and life science through implementation of our original education innovation program (SEIP: Sojo Educational Innovation Project).

Faculty of Art

To put the education philosophy of this university into practice, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster individuals who are equipped with a high sense of ethics and proactively make broad contributions to society in the areas of art and design. Therefore, we accept students who can communicate with consideration and cooperativeness.
  2. We foster artists, researchers, and designers who can respond to the diversification in the art and design fields. Therefore, we accept students who have basic description capability and basic academic skills required for acquisition of the problem-finding/solving capability and have the willingness to acquire them.
  3. We foster individuals who seek to acquire new expertise. Therefore, we accept students who are able to approach and face people, nature, and society sincerely.

Department of Art

To put the education philosophy of this university into practice, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster individuals who have a high sense of ethics and proactively make contributions to the creation of culture. Therefore, we accept students who proactively and sincerely face everything with passion.
  2. We foster specialists equipped with a wide range of academic expertise in the art field and advanced expression techniques. Therefore, we accept students who have basic knowledge including Japanese and English language and, for students in the practical skill course, basic sketching ability.
  3. We foster individuals who can conduct creation and research activities enthusiastically and continuously. Therefore, we accept students who like drawing or creating art, reading art-related books, writing, and who appreciate masterpieces as well as having fundamental concentration and stamina.

Department of Design

To foster individuals who support “lives and living,” which is part of the education philosophy of this university, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We accept students who are deeply interested in people and society and have the basic academic skills required for acquisition of design skills.
  2. We accept students who have a willingness to improve their communication capabilities, information analysis capabilities, and presentation capabilities that are necessary for developing the design capability to find and solve various problems in society.
  3. We accept students who have a strong will and desire to learn through lessons to acquire such creativity and design skills that are necessary for succeeding at the international level.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

To put the education philosophy of this university into practice and achieve the goals of the education and research of the faculty, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  1. We foster pharmacists who can respond to the advancement of medical care and have excellent clinical ability. Therefore, we accept students who have the basic academic skills and theoretical way of thinking required for acquiring expertise and problem-finding/solving capabilities.
  2. We foster pharmacists who have a high sense of ethics and can provide medical care from the standpoint of the patient. Therefore, we accept students who can communicate with consideration and cooperativeness.
  3. We foster drug specialists who can make contributions to society. Therefore, we accept students who have a strong will and a willingness to proactively confront new fields of science and medical care.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Based on the philosophy of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Sojo University and the purpose of education and research, we accept students with the following personal characteristics.

  • Students who have already acquired basic academic skills including chemistry and mathematics that were required in senior high school
  • Students who are interested in science and have a willingness to confront new fields
  • Students who can communicate with consideration and cooperativeness
  • Students who want to understand the wonder of life and the power of medicines
  • Students who want to make contributions to society as drug specialists
