Department of Aerospace Systems Engineering

Department of Aerospace Systems Engineering has three educational courses, Aerospace Engineering Course, Aircraft Mechanic Training Course and Pilot Training Course.

Faculty Members and Research Activities

  • Professor Kensuke Matsuo:Air cushion vehicle and related problems
  • Professor Takeshi Hashimoto:Fault tolerant control systems of aero space planes
  • Associate Professor Kouji Kanazawa: Ground-effect of the wing
  • Associate Professor Kazuhiko Shiraishi: Deformation behavior of aircraft
  • Assistant Professor Hiromitsu Semba: Carrier which uses ground effect

Academic Programs of Aerospace Engineering Course

Academic programs are based on the educational idea of practical study of and fundamental grounding in the development of aerospace engineering. Learning with a fine balance of knowledge,theory and technology, students acquire the practical expertise of the development engineer. Educational programs are composed of the following subjects:

  • Aerodynamics
  • Aircraft Structures, Structural Dynam1cs
  • Propulsion Engineering
  • Flight Dynamics & Controls
  • Space Systems Dynamics
  • Design & Drawings

Academic Programs of Aircraft Mechanic Training Course

This course aims at the training of aircraft mechanic with high-level and broad knowledge of aeronautical engineering. Therefore,students are educated with not only training of aircraft maintenance but also with broad sense of general aeronautical engineering. After three years from the entrance of the university, students take the test of the certificate of the second class aircraft mechanic which is carried out by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Educational subjects are as follows:

  • Maintenance Basic of Aircrafts
  • Training of Aircraft Maintenance Practices
  • Aircraft structures & Systems Type/Task Training
  • Piston Engine & Propeller Type/Task Training
  • Training of Aircraft Electrical & Avionic Systems

In addition, students must take the following units:

  • Aerodynamics
  • Thermodynamics
  • Strength of Materials
  • Guidance and Control
  • Civil Aeronautics Law
  • Aviation

Academic Programs of Pilot Training Course

Basically,you have to fly about 220 hours by single engine aircrafts CESSNA172S by 3rd grade. There are differences according to each individual.After that, you can get the private and commercial pilot licenses.In the 4th grade, you have to fly about 44hours by multi-engine aircrafts BARON G58 to get the multi-engine and instrument pilot licenses.As an additional training, we have the training by flight simulators.
